- Custom built Scissor Lift Manufacturer!!!: Mobile Scissor Lift has a huge potential in enhancing air cargo capabilities to both establised and remote runways, due to its offroad capabilites. We also believe it has huge potential for use in the construction and mining industries within Australia.
We designed and built this Scissor Lift Aircarft Loader for the Australian Antarctic Division. The scissor lift and peripheral equipment is mounted on a custom built "6-all-wheel drive" vehicle supplied by Multidrive Pty Ltd. The scissor lift aircraft loader is now used by the Australian Antarctic Division to load and unload air cargo from the Wilkins Runway in Antarctica. This has been an immensely challenging, but very rewarding project for all involved. We successfully project managed this project from start to finish, and resulted in a world class piece of equipment that we are proud to have manufactured for the Australian Government.
The total lift height is 4 metres with a 1 tonne payload capability. The tray can also move backwards and forwards by 400mm to safely dock with an aircraft.
It was specially designed to have battery power sufficient to cope with the extreme cold conditions. It has a separate recharger for the batteries which are also trickle feed via the engine.
All safety rails are removable. There was provision for a climbing ladder for personnel to board the vehicle.
There are tiedowns provided on the tray to safely secure cargo.
All hydraulics systems have been tailored to suit. There are 4 stabiliser legs and feet to stabilise the vehicle in up to 100 km winds.
There is a hand held pendant controller which controls all hydraulic movements.
There are numerous safety features encorporated in the design to maximise safety.
The vehicle has been fitted with specially designed safety signage to prevent injury from workers, and we have prepared a special user manual in relation to correct operation and servicing of this equipment.

Note in the above picture that all tray doors fold away once safety rails are removed, to enable easy side loading of cargo.
The above picture illustrates how a 1 tonne load is easily secured for transport and lifting.
The above picture is that of the Australian Government's Airbus 319, which is now used routinely for summer flights to the recently built Wilkins Runway on the Ross Ice shelf in Antarctica.
